Families Section?

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

I went to Al-Abraj (Source) restaurant yesterday with my (male) cousin. We went upstairs but the employee told us that it is a section for families only. I tried to explain that we are a family and that he is my cousin but we were told to go downstairs.

What really made me angry is that I know that the section was not for families only. Females could go to the families section without being asked, employees would not ask old men to go down. And even if a guy came with a girl they can never know if they are family or friends or lovers, the only way to know that is by asking for the marriage document! It is pure discrimination, everybody is allowed to have privacy in a closed cabinet if they are not young males!

I don’t think that this is the right business model and as far as I am concerned I will never go to Al-Abraj with boys again!!

To Hell Sinner!

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

While browsing some blogs I came across a post where the owner is talking about wedding parties.  In his post, the author is condemning all the people who allow songs to be played at their wedding ceremonies to hell and suggesting that they should write in the invitation card that there will be songs in the party.

After reading this post I decided to write a comment because I felt that he doesn’t have the authority to decide who will go to hell and who will not.

Anyway, my comment was not published by the author.  Perhaps because it was “not Islamic,” or because I asked him how many people that he know will go to hell after issuing his own Fatwa.  Only “Islamic” comments appear to be approved.  You know, sinful comments could polluted the spirituality of the blog!

Some years ago, the majority of people would bring singers to the women’s wedding party.  However, after the importation of the DJs to Bahrain, a group of women in Bahrain that refuse having DJs in wedding parties started to boycott or leave any wedding which involves DJ’s because they were un-Islamic.  A solution came after few years which is called “Islamic DJ” a DJ which plays Islamic songs.

People would go to hell if they watched “bad”  TV shows.  And today people would be immortal in hell for playing songs in their wedding parties.  Who would go to hell next time?  Perhaps anybody who shave his beard!

When would THEY understand that a sin does not necessarily lead to hell and that they are not the people who will judge!

Sleepless in a Holiday morning!

Friday, January 11th, 2008

I stayed awake all the night long yesterday doing some university projects.  Then, I prayed Al-Fajir prayer and made some touches on the projects.  At 6 A.M I decided to go and get some sleep.

However, once I placed my head on the pillow I heard that sound, ” Knock, Knock, Knock,” iron was hitting iron hardly.  I forgot about sleeping because it is impossible to sleep with the sound of a cruel hammer. I wondered what  evil men  would work at this time of the day and rob us from a relaxation moment! I AM TIRED I NEED SOME SLEEP, THEY SHOULD NOT BOTHER US AT THIS TIME OF THE DAY!!

Then, I stopped to think, is it their mistake that they work now or not?  I will not work at that time of the day at this cold winter.  Their boss is the person who should be blamed.  He is the one who made them do it.  He probably chose that time in order to exploit them more by making them work for longer hours for the same tiny payment.

I flipped my memories and I remember the strong protest done by the construction contractors when the government banned them from making the employees work under the hot sun. of course they will because it would harm their business because in their dictionary profit is more important than any soul.  They would protest when somebody suggests that workers must have suitable transportation methods which should replace  Six-Wheels.  But no, it would be too expensive for the contractors to treat their employees like human and some contractors might stupidly pretend to feel sympathetic toward workers and claim that if he provided workers with air-condition transportation they will catch cold because of the transformation from an air-conditioned area to a hot dry area :S

As I continued thinking, more ideas came to my head and with time the hard knocks of the hammer turned into smooth music and I fell asleep.

A New Year!

Tuesday, January 1st, 2008

A new year was born today, as we left 2007 and received 2008.  some of the people feels enthusiastic about this new brand year, and some thinks that it would be a complete disaster.

The concept of a new year means for some people that they have a new sheet in which they could rewrite their entire personality or life.  Some people have what they call a “New Year’s Resolution” where they claim that they would be committed to doing or not doing something. For example, someone could say that his new year’s resolution is to stop eating junk food. Anyway, most of the times people would forget about their resolution mainly because they made a decision in the new year, and they will likely forget about it when they feel that the year is not new anymore.  I think that any person would feel more committed to his resolution if he did not connect it with time. Time passes fast, but believes stay still.  If you cannot stick to your New Year’s Resolution try to stick to what you should call, “My Own Resolution.” Ignore time and make your move whether it is January or September.

On the other hand,  some people feel afraid about what problems will occur in this year.  They would watch or read about the Astrologers‘ predictions, and they will really believe what they are told and that there is a relationship between Mars and Earth even though they deny believing anything they heard.  Anyway, I think that if someone listened to New Year’s Prediction ( Or Horoscope ) and denied believing it then he would contradict himself, why should you notice something that you do not believe without a clear reason? it would be okay if you said that you listen to these things for fun, or for curiosity. But discussing the predictions and the results of them and then claiming that nothing should be believed from this horoscope is totally contradictory.  If you do not believe in horoscope for any reason whether it is religious or mental, then do not discuss it.

At the end, everyone has his own preference and would receive the new year according it.  but it would be the same for me, I had to read for Yesterday’s (Last Year’s) lecture, and I must read for tomorrow.

Perfect Motherhood!

Friday, March 16th, 2007

In the first week of school, I saw an ugly image that cannot be forgotten. What appears to be a mother is carrying her child in a strange way at the university. She must have no experience with children, as she was HUGGING the poor kid. Anyway, I didn’t pay much attention to that scene because sometimes children becomes energetic and might want release themselves from the hands.

Later on that day I saw the woman again, she was carrying the child in the same way! Which made me conclude that SHE CAN’T EVEN CARRY HER OWN CHILD! She was hardly holding him, and he was inches away from slipping away from her hands!

After three weeks, I still remember this encounter with that unpleasant moment, and I ask myself “If the mother can’t hold her child, HOW THE HELL WOULD SHE BE ABLE TO RISE HIM?”

Motherhood is not funny game, if somebody thinks that she lack responsibility, then my advice is not to be a mother before learning basic things about children and how to take care of them. A good start would be to look how mothers look after their baby.

Finally, mothers are not made automatically, they should be guided when seen doing mistakes in their way of treating their children. Where is her family, or the family of her husband? It won’t take much time in teaching her the basic things like carrying the kid or changing the diaper!

PLEASE DON’T MAKE ME SEE THIS SCENE AGAIN!

Research Paper

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

Delaying is something I am used to, I delay any task given to me whether I have one day to finish it or 1 year. I can tell stories about the bad management of time, but would I ever learn from my mistakes?

Well I had to write that research paper about History and its effects on human beings for the American history course. As usual I started writing the research very late, began working on the research paper at 3 PM.

Two hours passed, spent on jumping from a web site to forum, it was time to pray but only three lonely lines were written.

After a short break I came back to the computer, realized that I have to write five pages in that day, erased the written lines & began to write the introduction, visited Wikipedia and typed the magical word “History” the result came back in seconds, I took the information I needed and began to it.  Soon there were nothing more to write in the introduction, making me face the body of the research, now I need to use the books I have and a reliable internet articles, I open my books, and started to Google for useful information.

In less than an hour I have wiped out all the resources I had, the result was only one page, then it was time to use my imagination, I remembered what has been written in the introduction, which opened my eyes to new horizons.  I could actually think of the things that we learn from history (thanks to my doctor and previous readings) all what I had to do is to link what we have learned with new theories produced by the brain.

Bedtime arrived, “I will only sleep when I finish the research,” I said.

I was creating ideas and supporting them with quotes from here and there nightlong, I finished writing the fourth page just minutes before Al-fajir prayer.

After finishing prayer, I was reminded about a test that I should have done before, Oh that what I really needed!  Anyway, I done the test in minutes, and then back to that research paper, I stared at what I have done in order to write the conclusion but by that time my brain was clogged and nothing came to my mind.

After half an hour of staring I gave up, it is time to get ready for the university. “Those useless days of copy & paste research papers are gone for good,” I murmured.

I went to the university and the day started, at the US history course I had to promise the teacher that the research would be in his hand before the end of the day.  After the end of class, I had a rest, and then to the lab I went, I hardly wrote the conclusion as my eyes were closing due to lack of sleep.  After all, I FINISHED IT then handed it to the doctor and left his office.

Later on, a friend of mine asked me if I had a good lesson out of this, I told him that I had a good lesson indeed. At the moment I was whispering deep in my soul “Managing to do a required task in a little time is what makes us good time managers!”

Lost & Found!

Monday, December 25th, 2006

I lost this pen almost 6 months ago, and had searched for it since that date. It is not a special pen, not a gift from a dear friend neither an expensive pen. It is just a 50-fils pen which I wanted to regain. Not that I am stingy, but I really liked that pen, I felt the comfortable when I used it because it reminded me of the good old childhood memories as I used to write with a similar pen.

I have just found this pen accidentally a couple of days ago, with a joyful happiness I opened the lid of the pen, rolled the head on the paper… oooops my precious pen has dried out and became a useless peace of plastic & ink.  Even though it took me half a year to find this pen, I threw it immediately when I saw its uselessness.

Message: When you search for a lost item (or person), you might find it, but it could be of no use when you find it.

You should ask yourself, would it ever be the same again when it is in your hands?
